What each one actually is

GetTranscribe takes a link from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, X or Google Drive and returns a full analysis: a searchable transcript with timestamps, key frames and scene breaks, and a read on the video's hook, topic and narrative structure. You can then ask AI questions answered from the video itself, file runs into collections by client or competitor, search and compare across those collections, import in bulk, and generate creative briefs. It ships a Chrome extension, an iOS app, an API with webhooks, and connectors for n8n, Make and Zapier. Exports are TXT, SRT and PDF. It advertises 50+ languages and a result in about a minute.

TranscribeTok takes one TikTok link and returns the spoken text. That is the entire product. No other platforms, no batch, no extension, no API, no integrations. Two transcripts a day, free, with no account and no card. Exports TXT, DOCX and SRT.

Those are different products that happen to share a first step. Most of the disagreement people have about which is "better" is really a disagreement about which step they are stuck on.

Where GetTranscribe is clearly better

Anything past the transcript. Hook analysis, scene detection, key frames, structure breakdowns, asking a question and getting an answer grounded in the video — we have none of it. No account on the free tier. No email, no password, no card, no confirmation link. Paste, read, close the tab. GetTranscribe lets you try without signing up, but the collections, exports and analysis that make it worth using sit behind an account.

No subscription. Our paid tiers are one-time credit packs — $9 for 100 transcripts up to $59 for 4,000 — and credits never expire. GetTranscribe's Pro is $9.99 a month, which is $120 a year if you forget it, and genuinely good value if you are in it weekly. If your usage is bursty, paying once and drawing down over a year is the cheaper shape. We also do not charge a credit when a video turns out to have no spoken audio.

Speed on the one thing. They quote about a minute for a full analysis, which is fair for what it produces. We return spoken text in a few seconds because that is all we are doing. When you just want to quote a line, the analysis is overhead.

The honest recommendation

Use GetTranscribe if: your work spans platforms, you process videos in batches, you need the analysis layer rather than raw text, you want everything filed and searchable months later, or you are wiring transcription into an automation. Competitor research, agency reporting and content strategy all sit squarely here, and $9.99 a month is not a serious obstacle if that describes your week.

Use TranscribeTok if: you want the transcript of a specific TikTok, now, without making an account, and you want that to still be free next Tuesday. You saw something useful and want to quote it, save it, translate it or feed it to an AI. That is a far more common situation than the category's marketing suggests, and it does not need a platform.

What neither of them does

Three limits apply to both tools, and to every competitor in this category:

• Public videos only. Private accounts, friends-only posts and deleted videos are inaccessible to any transcription tool. There is no workaround.
• On-screen text is not captured by transcription. Text a creator types onto the video is a rendered graphic, not data. GetTranscribe's key-frame extraction gives you the frames, which is more than we offer, but the transcript itself is still audio-only on both sides. If a video's substance lives in the captions rather than the voiceover, neither tool recovers it.
• Accuracy is not a differentiator. Both sit in the mid-to-high 90s on clear speech, because mainstream tools lean on similar speech recognition. Loud music, sped-up delivery, heavy slang and mid-sentence code-switching degrade results roughly equally for everyone.
